Guide / Sociologist

I fell in love with Budapest during my university years, studying sociology – and living in a dormitory for years on the outskirts of Buda. I feel at home in this colorful city, with my mixed Catholic-Jewish background, rock-and-roll musician husband, and international family.

I really enjoyed exploring Budapest’s historic past in my classes, especially the personal stories. During my university years I made many interviews with locals for seminar projects. As a sociologist I strongly believe that you can really get close to our city through these life stories. They bring our beautiful medieval buildings and eclectic palaces, our broad spectacular avenues and impressive squares and plazas alive.

Having spent a year in Holland, I loved exploring the city by bicycle, which could be quite adventurous in pre-smartphone-GPS times. My time abroad was what inspired me to study to be a tour guide – as I was interested in the opportunity it provides to become acquinted with different cultures and to introduce both visitors and locals to Budapest from different perspectives.
